David Wiley, MS, LPC is a highly trained and experienced Licensed Professional Counselor in North Carolina. He has been practicing in a variety of behavioral health settings in the Triangle area of North Carolina since 1981. This includes innovative approaches to substance abuse and chronic pain management, crisis intervention, as well as working with relationship issues with couples and families.
David earned a Master of Science degree in Counselor Education through the School of Education at North Carolina State University. His undergraduate degree, a Bachelor of Arts, was through the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Additionally, post-graduate studies included a unique program through Azusa Pacific University, in collaboration with the organization Focus on the Family.
Additionally, David is a research therapist working with the Duke University Center for Spirituality, Theology, and Health. The purpose of the study is to explore the relationship of an individual’s faith, along with counseling approach, and its effectiveness.
Areas of interest and expertise include: mood disorders such as anxiety, depression, bipolar, substance abuse education/screening/outpatient follow-up, ADD/ADHD, relationship/premarital/marital counseling including a co-therapy option, stress/pain management, life transition issues especially with college students as well as older adults, and adolescent counseling. In addition, David works with eating disordered individuals including areas of Anorexia, Orthorexia Nervosa, Bulimia, and Selective Eating (“picky eaters” – age 9+). David specializes in working with males of all ages with eating disorders and families of loved ones with eating disorders. David offers compassionate care through a variety of strategies and techniques, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, biofeedback and Alpha-Stim technologies, Quitsmart smoking cessation, and others to move individuals/couples/families forward toward more helpful and healthy living.
As a North Carolinian, David enjoys a variety of sports, especially ACC basketball, outdoor activities, the beach in particular, spending time with family and friends.
