Everyone goes through challenges and difficult transitions in life. Therapy can help provide perspective and grounding when you are facing these trying times. Counseling can also be a support as you deal with anxiety, grief, eating disorders, family crises, depression, self-esteem issues as well as other perplexing concerns. Often managing relationships can be a struggle as a couple, parent, family, with a co-worker, or with friends. Therapy can help you navigate the complexities of relationships and begin to find healthier ways to communicate, create safe boundaries and enjoy positive connection. It can be helpful to take the time to talking to a counselor when you feel you have lost your sense of life vision, lost your zest for life, or your life feels out of balance. Whether you are looking for individual, couples, or family counseling for any type of concern, RCA provides many specialties (link to speciality page or staff bio page) to serve you. The benefits you achieve from therapy are based on how invested you are in the process of healing as well as putting into practice what you are learning. Your therapist is here to help you set intentions for your time in counseling, offer you helpful strategies for living, help you figure out the obstacles that get in the way of your progress, as well as move you along toward recovery. No matter what brings you to counseling recovery means living a life of desired positive outcome with freedom and renewed hope.
Here are some of the known benefits of working with a counselor.
It has been established that the long-term solution to the pain of mental and emotional struggles cannot solely be managed by medication alone. Most medications simply treat the symptoms, where therapy addresses the root cause of the distress and how the resulting behavior impacts your life. We recommend in some cases, a combination approach. We will work with you and your medical doctor to assist you in reaching your goal of wellness and healthy living, when necessary.
In most cases your request will be honored. However, there are times when our team will match you with the therapist who best fits your counseling needs. Each one of our therapists has areas of expertise and we want to ensure that your sessions are affective and efficient.
We offer 45, 60 & 90 minute sessions. The length of the session is primarily based on the need of our clients and can be decided with your therapist after your initial visit.
Frequency of visits is based on your unique needs, impact of your concerns on your life and your desire toward healing and wellness. With your input, a care plan will be established for you during your 1st few visits. This care plan will develop your goals/intentions and establish benchmarks for your desired outcome. Our normal recommendation for our new clients is weekly appointments. This allows us to establish a positive therapy relationship, as well as, provide the appropriate time to create your treatment/care plan. As you meet your benchmarks, you and the therapist will work together on evaluating your progress and scheduling maintenance appointments.
Please arrive to your appointment 15 mins early, bring photo id, insurance card and any paperwork regarding custody, if the session is for a minor child due to divorce or separation. You will also be asked to complete some paperwork, if you have not done so, via our Patient Portal. Your initial session will last up to 60 minutes. During this session your therapist will ask you to describe your concerns and what you hope to gain from counseling. This is the opportunity for you and the counselor to work on a care plan. At the end of the session the therapist will give you his/her recommendation for your next visit.
Most insurance companies have mental health benefits. Our office administrator will be glad to check your insurance benefits for you. However, you can also contact your insurance company customer service line and inquire on your benefits and reimbursement.
Our practice is committed to providing counseling to any person desiring services. When our clients notify us of financial hardship, we have a scholarship program in-place to assist them.
