David Wiley, MS, LCMHC, CIMHP, is a highly trained and experienced Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in North Carolina.  He has been practicing in a variety of behavioral health settings in the Triangle area of North Carolina since 1981. This includes working with relationship issues with couples and families, as well as innovative approaches to substance abuse, chronic pain management, and crisis intervention.

David earned a Master of Science (MS) degree in Counselor Education through the School of Education at North Carolina State University.  His undergraduate degree, a Bachelor of Arts (BA), was through the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.  He has also participated in post-graduate studies through Azusa Pacific University, in collaboration with the organization Focus on the Family. Further, he is certified as an Integrative Mental Health Professional, encompassing a holistic approach (physical, mental, emotional, spiritual) to behavioral health.

Additionally, David has been a research therapist having worked with the Duke University Center for Spirituality, Theology, and Health. The purpose of the study explored the relationship of an individual’s spirituality, along with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) approach, and its effectiveness.

David specializes in relationship/premarital/marital counseling and especially enjoys this area of counseling.  Additional areas of interest and expertise include mood disorders including anxiety, depression, bipolar, substance abuse/addiction education screening/outpatient follow-up, ADD/ADHD, stress/pain management, life transitional/adjustment issues especially with college students as well as older adults. In addition, David works with eating disordered individuals for aftercare, including areas of anorexia, orthorexia, bulimia, and selective eating (“picky eaters”).

David offers compassionate care through a variety of strategies and techniques, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Narrative therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), biofeedback and Alpha-Stim technologies, Quitsmart smoking cessation, and others to move individuals/couples/families forward toward more helpful and healthy living.

As a North Carolinian, David enjoys a variety of sports, especially ACC basketball, outdoor activities, the beach in particular, spending time with family and friends.
